What would you do to heal?

I couldn’t watch that video. There was nothing about seeing a Black man publicly executed that felt appropriate or necessary. There was nothing that I needed to see to understand that what happened to him, and to Breonna Taylor, and Tony McDade, was anything more than 400+ years of state sanctioned brutality against people like me. And yet, I could not escape the images — his image. The still images, brown skin turned grey — I knew it was the mark of death.
