The coronavirus pandemic brought into stark focus many of the health and social justice inequities that plague disadvantaged populations in Baltimore and around the world. To address this critical gap, the Alliance for a Healthier World created a new cycle of health equity-focused COVID-19 grants for researchers, policy experts, and program implementers at Johns Hopkins University. After receiving a tremendous number of applications – Dr. Durryle Brooks’ community research project entitled Examination of Medical Mistrust and Misinformation of COVID-19 among Low Income African-Americans with Comorbid Risk Factors was selected as one of the awardees.
